OLIVE WAX CANDLES

I’ve always loved candles but for me, the story behind something has to make sense.

I don’t want anything that comes at the cost of my health, my home, or the land we live on.

That’s where olive wax enters the picture.

It’s a natural by-product of olive oil production, made here in Europe.

It felt honest to me, close to our land, close to our values, and in line with the way we try to live.

And there’s history in it as well.

Even today there’s a grade of olive oil called lampante: oil you wouldn’t eat, but that was once used to light lamps before electricity existed. So using olive wax now feels like going back to something ancient and intuitive.

At the same time, I had learned too much about paraffin and synthetic fragrances to ignore it.

The black smoke that paraffin candles release, the petrochemical base, the heavy compounds that linger in your home and especially the synthetic musks and fixatives that can accumulate in the body and disrupt hormones.

I wanted none of that in my house, and certainly not around my children.

So I went looking for a way to create a candle that aligned with our values.

Olive wax turned out to be perfect for us: clean-burning, soft, subtle, and gentle on the air you breathe.

And for fragrance, we use only pure essential oils.

Because they don’t overload your system, don’t interfere with your hormones, and they don’t linger in your body.

Essential oils come and go with the flame there is no residue, no overload and some even bring a benefit.

Lavender was an obvious choice for us.

It grows wild all around our mountain, and it carries a naturally calming effect.

Rosemary became our second scent, a plant with an ancient reputation for clarity and focus.

They balance each other: soothing and uplifting, grounding and energising.

And then there was the vessel.

We live on a mountain with clay in the soil so I wanted terracotta, something earthy and real.

We found a local artisan here in Málaga who shaped two simple models: minimal & elegant.

Finished with a layer of engobe for that soft, natural colour.

I’m genuinely proud of these candles.

The scented version is soft and subtle: present, but never overpowering.

The unscented one is a pure atmosphere candle, perfect for the table or for anyone who prefers the glow without a fragrance.
